I am in a VERY niche industry. Only a small number of companies specialize in products or services related to content targeting or placement targeting. Twitter should be a great place for me to make connections. From February to April of this year, I had a system that kept track of posts on Twitter for certain topics so that I could respond to them quickly. I even made a number of connections on Twitter from conversations around those topics and picked up two new clients.

So what’s the problem? The spammers have moved in! Individuals and companies that set up multiple profiles and post the same promotional tweets…day…after day…after day. I tried scanning through the all the daily posts for my niche but it takes too long and I get mad every time I pull them up. I’ve complained to Twitter multiple times about the spammers. Either Twitter is turning off those profiles and they are creating new ones as fast as they are getting turned off or Twitter has given up on trying to shut them down.

And what’s up with the people tweeting a whole list of Twitter names like this tweet a few days ago: “hmmm…what’s that feeling…http://tinyurl.com/n4mcxo @GlazrKenndyCopy @Jbrown523 @JamieGator @itsjustshelley“ Seriously. The link goes to a page with a title that says: How I Bought a Brand New $1.2 Million Home Using ONLY Affiliate Commissions Earned While I was Unemployed. Yea, I know the point is to get me to click on the link but I only clicked on that link to use it as an example for this article.
